IT for proptech startups
Security, compliance and cloud foundations for technology companies building products for real estate customers.
Technology for proptech startups
PropTech companies sell software into brokerages, landlords and developers who increasingly ask hard questions about security. A founder-led team needs a credible security posture before the first enterprise questionnaire arrives. ITRE advises proptech startups on the systems, security and records that sit behind the work. Security, compliance and cloud foundations for technology companies building products for real estate customers. We are an IT services and consulting firm, not a reseller, and our recommendations are independent of any vendor.

Compliance support and cost
PropTech Startups must keep in view SOC 2-aligned controls, PIPEDA and BC PIPA, Customer contractual security terms and Data residency expectations. Our work supports those obligations with systems and evidence; interpretation remains with your lawyer or compliance officer. Starting prices are $89 to $199 per user per month, $2,500 for projects, $1,500 per month for senior advisory and $1,900 for an assessment, plus 5% GST, with a 10% launch discount for new clients.
What good looks like
Example scenario: a small PropTech team prepares for its first brokerage-group procurement review by documenting access controls, backups and incident procedures, and answering the security questionnaire from evidence rather than from memory. The scenario is illustrative and does not describe a specific client. It shows how a small, disciplined improvement can protect a transaction, a trust account or a relationship.
The working toolset
The usual technology footprint for proptech startups includes AWS, Azure, Google Workspace and Identity and access management tooling. Our role is to make sure those systems are secured, backed up, integrated with one another and supported by people who know how they are used. We remain vendor-neutral and work with what you have.
A programme, not a pile of products
For proptech startups we typically combine AI for Real Estate Operations, Office Network & Wi-Fi, Agent Helpdesk and Wire-Fraud & BEC Protection. Taken together these form a coherent programme: protect the people and payments, standardise the devices and records, and report to leadership. You can begin with one service and add others as your team is ready.
Where proptech startups are exposed
Three themes recur when we review proptech startups: access that has grown without oversight, payments and documents that travel by email, and records that nobody can retrieve quickly. In practice that looks like security questionnaires from enterprise customers with no ready answers, and production and corporate systems mixed together. The remedies are procedural as much as technical, and we implement both.
